A former Keller High School athlete is receiving recognition for her current collegiate success.

Sachi Sugiyama, a freshman gymnast for the University of Michigan Wolverines, won the Coaches Award and the Newcomer Award, according to an article on mgoblue.com

Sugiyama's biggest accomplishment of the season? Becoming the program's 77th Big Ten individual champion after she won the vault title with a 9.950 score.
