The results are in from the 2011 Keller Police Citizen Survey.

About 15,000 Keller residents and businesses were surveyed back in October and November to measure the police department's overall effectiveness and also to involve the community in planning for the future.

According to the City of Keller, the total amount of surveys returned was 1,221, which represents an 8% return rate. National Accreditation Standards require the city to survey citizens once every three years.

Here are some of the results:

  • 53 percent of those surveyed said that, considering public safety, they feel very safe walking alone in their neighborhood or workplace at night. That's up from 48 percent back in 2008.
  • 48 percent of people surveyed said that speeding or traffic violations are a problem where they live or conduct business. That's down from 51 percent in 2008.
  • 67 percent of those surveyed said that they would direct a significant effort of the police department to crime prevention and education.
