On Wednesday, jurors in state district Judge Louis Sturns court convicted James Carroll Glawson, 60, of continuous sexual assault of children under 14— a charge punishable by 25 years to life in prison with no possibility for parole.

During the trial, prosecutors Eric Nickols and Rainey Webb presented evidence that Glawson was in charge of the computer lab at Foster Village Elementary School in North Richland Hills.

During the 2009-2010 school year, Glawson repeatedly molested a former student who helped him clean the computer lab on Saturday mornings in exchange for being allowed to play video games.

The second victim, a fourth-grader, was fondled on two occasions after he stayed late to help Glawson clean the lab.

That boy was also lured by Glawson’s promise to let him play video games.

When the allegations surfaced, officials with Birdville ISD immediately contacted authorities and they have fully cooperated throughout the investigation.

During the trial, prosecutors also presented evidence that Glawson was active in the Good News Club, a ministry of child evangelism fellowship.  He also played Santa Claus and visited schools at Christmastime.

On Thursday, the jury deliberated just an hour and 15 minutes before assessing the maximum sentence for Glawson.

Because Glawson was convicted of a charge that carries no parole eligibility, he will never get out of prison.

The case marked at least the third time that a Tarrant County jury has convicted a pedophile of continuous sexual abuse of a child and sentenced the defendant to life in prison without the possibility for parole.

In 2007, the Texas Legislature enacted the Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child or Children Statute, which is commonly referred to as “Jessica’s Law.”

The law was passed after Jessica Lunsford, a 9-year- old Florida girl was kid- napped, raped and killed by a registered sex offender.
