KYA Football's Fall Youth Football Season Approaching

Are you ready for some Youth Football in Keller?  Close to 600 youth football players ages 5 to 12 will show off their football skills at the upcoming Grass Drills as the Keller Youth Association (KYA) Football kicks off its Fall youth football tackle season.

The KYA Fall 2015 tackle football registration is currently open to all Keller, North Fort Worth, and DFW area youth between 5 and 12 years of age not already in middle school. Players may register online at KYAFootball.com until August 1st or in person at the KYA field house Thursday, July 23rd, and Tuesday, July 28th from 6:30pm to 8pm. On-site registrations will also be accepted during the grass drills at the Keller Sports Complex, Football Field #2 on two upcoming Saturdays, July 25th and August 1st. Player registration fee is $195 and includes game jersey, pants, and helmet decal.  You can use Coupon Code 62059 to save $10 on KYA Football registration at KYAFootball.com.

The KYA Football Grass Drills are similar to a mini NLF combine and allow the KYA football coaches to evaluate the players. These drills require a player to participate in a 40-yard sprint and an agility / skills course that includes, passing, receiving, tackling and footwork. Players are only required to exhibit their skills on one of the two upcoming Saturdays, July 25th and August 1st, from 8am to 1pm.  If players are unable to make the grass drills they are allocated to teams at the draft through a blind draw.  Here is a short video about grass drills.

KYA Football is a recreational football league. Each KYA football coach can only bring back up to 4 players from a past team. Most KYA football players are allocated to teams through a draft process to build a new team each season.  Players will be allocated to teams based on the coach’s draft throughout the weekend of August 8th. All of our head coaches are NYSCA (National Alliance for Youth Sports) certified. Teams are allocated among divisions, which include Mite (ages 5-6), Bantam (ages 7-8), Sophomore (age 9), Junior (age 10) and Senior (age 11-12). The current KYA Football Fall registration numbers look strong but more 5 and 6 year old players are needed to round out the Mite division.

The Fall youth football season includes an exciting array of six to eight games and a playoff Super Bowl Championship bracket. Practices begin the week of August 10 and are held within the Keller ISD school boundaries. Games will be played on Saturdays from 9am to 8pm at Keller Sports Complex and at local Keller High Schools.  The first game is scheduled for Saturday, September 12th and ends with the Super Bowl Championship game on November 14th. An All Star game has been added for the Fall and will be played on November 21st.  All of the games are officiated by referees that are UIL certified.

Football in Texas doesn't have to be all about Friday Night Lights at High School football games.  KYA Football in the FAll has some of the best youth football in North Texas.

"KYA Football is one of the best recreational youth football leagues in North Texas. I would like to invite anyone interested, or even curious about youth football, to come out to the grass drills and learn more about KYA Football,” said KYA VP of Football, Garvin Fouts.
