Indulge in the 8th Annual ChocolateFest

Each February, store aisles are lined with heart-shaped boxes of all sizes, filled with decadent chocolates. From bittersweet to milk to dark, the sweet treats are in abundance in the weeks surrounding Valentine's Day. But what's a true chocoholic supposed to do when February wraps up and those ruby-red boxes vanish from shelves?

If you're already dreading the lack of the candy-coated confections, there's no need to get in a sweets slump. Instead, look forward to the 8th Annual ChocolateFest Grapevine. This year's festival will be held on March 9th and 10th and brings together the best in chocolate, art, and wine.

The first event, an Evening of Chocolate and Wine, will be held on Friday, March 9th from 7 to 10 p.m. at the La Buena Vida Vineyards in Grapevine. Guests can sip on delicious wines and nibble on a variety of gooey chocolates while listening to the smooth musical stylings of Rob Holbert and Mirage. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance, there are no tickets sold at the door. The event is adults-only. For those who are looking for a more kid-friendly event, check out Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at the Palace Theatre. The classic film, filled with whimsical elements, is sure to delight children and adults alike.

On Saturday, head to the Palace Arts Center for "A Day of Chocolate and Art." The event goes from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and admission is done in 30 minute increments. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 7-years-old and younger. The cost includes 10 chocolate samples for adults (3 for children), and admission to the art exhibits as well as live music. There will also be contests and activities for all ages.

And you can feel guilt-free about indulging in all those chocolates and wine because the festival is an annual fundraising event for Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth. The organization assists individuals and families who are
in transition, in crisis or who are separated from their normal support systems and are facing a travel related crisis.
