A former Keller High School student is now receiving athletic honors at the collegiate level.

University of Michigan women's gymnast Sachi Sugiyama was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, according to an article on mgoblue.com.

It's the first weekly award for the 2011 KHS graduate, who finished second in the all-around last Friday at the Oklahoma tri meet. Sugiyama scored a 39.250, setting a new career best. 

She is the daughter of Shoichi and Laurie Sugiyama.
