Keller ISD Chief Technology Officer Joe Griffin will be one of 15 national leaders in learning and innovation to take part in a Social Think Tank as part of Dell Corporation’s Day of Innovation in Education on Thursday, Sept. 13 in Cambridge, Mass.

The event and Social Think Tank will be hosted in partnership with the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).  Dell is bringing together the Think Tank to create an “open, honest and collaborative forum” for learning innovation, which includes students, parents, bloggers and school administrators.  The Social Think Tank will be dedicated to diving deeper into innovative models in learning, discussing the challenges the education community is facing, furthering learning solutions and outlining what’s possible with the support of technology.

The conversations will focus around the challenges being faced, but will also give participants the opportunity to talk with peers about potential solutions and ideas for in and out of the classroom.  The collaborative and interactive session will reach out to the broader education community in person and via Twitter (#DoMoreEDU) and can be viewed via a live stream broadcast at http://www.fittotweet.com/live/innovateEDU/.

Topics will include: Data Driven Innovation and Student Driven Transparency; The Future of Innovation in a Non-Text Book World; and Closing the Learning Gap.  The moderator, Michael Horn, executive director of education at Innosight Institute, will guide the discussion.

The Think Tank is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CDT).

At the conclusion of the Think Tank, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab will host a Technology in the Classroom Town Hall event in partnership with Dell and co-produced by NBC News’ Education Nation and NBC Learn.  Top education thought leaders and policy makers, plus parents, teachers and students will gather to discuss technology’s influence in learning and how to cultivate new, innovative learning models.  The event will be moderated by NBC News Chief Education Correspondent Rehema Ellis with support from NBC News Special Correspondent Chelsea Clinton, as well as NBC Boston affiliate WHDH-TV Anchor Kim Khazei.
