The heat wasn’t the only tropical thing about Keller this week.

Ke Anuenue brought the dances and sounds of Hawaii to the Keller Town Hall on Wednesday, June 27 at 7 p.m. as part of the MasterWorks Music Series.

The family band has performed music from Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa in and outside of Texas since 1983.

“We enjoy being able to tell people about our culture,” said frontman Mase Masalosalo.  “Our mission is to bring our islands here.”

Ke Anuenue, which means “rainbow” in Hawaiian, began their performance with a song titled, “We Say Aloha.”  The song explained the meaning of the Hawaiian greeting.

The band played war ritual songs and performed dances, including the hula. 

Attendees enjoyed the show, and some even got in on the action. 

Greg and Claire Schere brought their dogs Trooper and Helo to enjoy the tropical music.

“We came to these concerts last year,” said Mr. Schere.  “Keller is great about hosting these public events.”
