Memorial Day Weekend 'No Refusal' Begins Friday Night

For some, cold ones and cookouts are a Memorial Day weekend “must.”

But what about a designated driver?

To reinforce the need to drink responsibly, Tarrant County is announcing that there will be a grant-funded, three-day “No Refusal” operation during the Memorial Day holiday, which means police will be out in force looking for impaired drivers.

The initiative will run from 9:30 p.m. Friday through 5:30 a.m. Monday.

All participating police agencies will use search war- rants to take blood from people who are arrested for driving while intoxicated but refuse to take a breath test.

Those who are arrested and charged with DWI during a “No Refusal” holiday will have their names and ages published on the DA website. As with past programs, our hope is that the public will heed our message and the number of posted names will be very few.
