A jury duty scam is gaining momentum in Tarrant County. Basically, the swindler calls an unsuspecting citizen and tells them there is a warrant out for their arrest for failing to appear for jury duty.  They then “allow” the person to pay their fine (upwards of $4,000) to avoid being arrested. Attached is information from Tarrant County Jury Services, which explains how the scam is being carried out and what people should know. (This link will also take you to the page.)

Tarrant County officials would greatly appreciate it if you could help get the word out. Jury Bailiff Paula Morales, who oversees jury services for Tarrant County, said she would be happy to give interviews, sound, whatever you may need. She can be contacted directly at 817-884-3821 or pgmorales@tarrantcounty.com.
