Frisco, Texas – Sophia Garrison has been nominated as a part of the American Heart Association's Woman of Impact. Every year across the country, a select group of individuals are nominated to be a part of Woman of Impact because of their passion and drive to make a difference. This 9-week drive is relentlessly focused on women’s heart health. Launching on National Wear Red Day, nominees work to build fundraising campaign plans, recruit Impact teams, and inspire their networks to support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission through their work and donations.

Sophia, who has worked in promoting heart health and wellness throughout her life, is thrilled to be a part of this year's class of changemakers.

“In this journey, I get to share my own experience with heart disease and share the importance of heart health. I had a congenital heart defect at birth but went unfound until I was five years old, a hole in my heart the size of a silver dollar, was missed. I am bringing awareness to others from my own experience and what I have learned in this journey because I can’t help but think what if my parents never switched doctors and they didn’t find the hole in my heart the size of a silver dollar. I can’t help but think about other children or adults that had the same experience with a different outcome. This is why It is essential for researchers to discover new medicines, treatments, or even ways to detect heart diseases, for children and adults.”, says Sophia

"I’m excited to be nominated for Go Red for Women’s Woman of Impact campaign. As part of this year’s class of changemakers, I’ve brought together a team that’s working to make the greatest impact possible on women’s health. We will be raising much-needed funds for the American Heart Association and working to improve the health of our communities. Our goal is $20,000 and I hope we can count on your support!", says Sophia.

The American Heart Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and improving the health of communities through education, research, and advocacy. The Woman of Impact award is one of the most highly sought-after awards in the industry and recognized as a nominee is a testament to Sophia's commitment to making a difference.

The winners of the Woman of Impact award will be announced at the annual American Heart Association's Women of Impact gala.
