Since Sept. 4, you might have noticed a series of beautiful paintings on display at Keller Town Hall, some even depicting actual scenes of the city.

These paintings are part of the September Public Art Show, “Memories in Watercolor,” presented by the Keller Public Arts Program.  The show displays the work of local artists Mary Simon, Cherie Giddens, Jim Evans and Lesley Talty.

Simon said she found her Keller paintings interesting because she is relatively new to the area and does not take the fresh scenery for granted.  The University of North Texas graduate’s Keller paintings included the Keller water tower and clock tower.

Giddens teaches art at Grapevine’s Accommodated Learning Academy and adult watercolor classes at the Grapevine Fine Arts Gallery.

“I love working with watercolor,” said Giddens.  “It just flows.  You can build and plan layer by layer until it comes to life.”

Evans graduated from Texas Tech University and Southern Methodist University with degrees in mechanical engineering.  He has now been painting for more than 30 years and also exhibits his work at the Upstairs Gallery in Arlington.

Talty taught drawing and painting at the University of Texas in Arlington, and she also currently has work showing at the Creative Arts Center in Fort Worth.

You can still see “Memories in Watercolor” Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Keller Town Hall until Friday, Sept. 28.
