Get Healthy and Rock the Park in Keller (Tips for Saturday)

Saturday, Sept. 29 is going to be a busy day for many Keller residents. Here is a quick look at what the city has in store for this Saturday:

Get Healthy Texas Kids Triathlon

CBS 11, TXA 21 and Dallas Athletes are hosting the Get Healthy Texas Kids Triathlon for the second year in a row. The triathlon will begin at 8 a.m., and the swim will take place at the Keller Natatorium, the bike course will be located on Bear Creek Parkway and the running portion of the race will be on the Keller trails.

Children four to 13 years old can swim, bike and run at the triathlon in three different age divisions. The registration cost of $35 per child includes a T-shirt and finisher’s medal, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Keller ISD Athletic Fund.

TIPS:

Parents are allowed to help with transitions in the race if needed. Be sure to bring goggles, a towel and a bike helmet. Life jackets will be available if needed.

Due to the triathlon, eastbound and westbound traffic on Bear Creek Parkway will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. from Town Center Lane to Keller-Smithfield Road. An emergency access gate at Keller-Smithfield Road and Diar Lane will allow access to the Villas of Town Center.

Rock the Park

After the Get Healthy Texas Kids Triathlon, the Keller Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the second annual Rock the Park event Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at Bear Creek Park.

Rock the Park will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses, vendor booths, live entertainment and more. Guns 4 Roses, a Guns N’ Roses cover band, will welcome the audience to the jungle…or park from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Admission and parking are free, and some activities will have a minimum charge.
