Six schools in the Keller ISD are currently without power, according to a press release posted on the district's website.

Students at Keller High School and New Directions Learning Center have been released as of 2:15 p.m. Parents with students at Keller Middle, Trinity Springs Middle, Trinity Meadows Intermediate, and Keller Early Learning Center may pick their children up early if they wish.

The power went out around 2:00 p.m. and KISD administrators have been in contact with Oncor. The outage is being blamed on an equipment failure on a utility pole.

Oncor employees are working to repair the problem and power should be restored later this afternoon.

-Update as of 3:50 p.m. on 11/8/11

KISD has announced that power has been restored to the schools affected by the earlier outage and classes will continue as scheduled tomorrow.
