Keller ISD will host a lockdown simulation event for the Texas School Safety Center, Texas PTA, and local media outlets Monday, Dec. 9, at Woodland Springs Elementary School to highlight the campus’ emergency preparedness and procedures.

Woodland Springs and all other Keller ISD elementary campuses hold regular lockdown drills with students and staff, but the December 9 simulation will involve the Fort Worth Police Department, which will respond as it would in an active shooter simulation.

While the simulation will highlight the readiness of the campus and vigilance of local law enforcement officials, at no time during the event will information be divulged that will in any way jeopardize campus security or student safety.

The event is a collaboration between Keller ISD, the Fort Worth Police Department, Texas School Safety Center, and Texas PTA. Officials from each of the organizations will be in attendance to observe the drill and discuss the important role parents play in encouraging their local schools to conduct the drills and required safety audits.

The drill is scheduled to begin after 10:30 a.m.and once it has begun, no one will be allowed to enter the building until the completion of the drill.

Woodland Springs Elementary School is located at 12120 Woodland Springs Drive in Fort Worth.
