FORT WORTH, TEXAS, January 30, 2014 — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance’s on-site laboratory has received accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) after a recent on-site inspection.

To become a CAP accredited laboratory, inspectors examine the lab’s records and quality control measures, as well as staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs and record, and overall management.

“The entire lab team worked hard to achieve CAP accreditation,” Clint Abernathy, professional services officer at Texas Health Alliance, said. “This accreditation is a validation of the hard work and dedication the team performs each day for Texas Health Alliance’s patients.”

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program as being equal-to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.  The lab at Texas Health Alliance joins more than 7,000 CAP accredited facilities worldwide.
