Keller Library Honored for Excellence

For a fourth consecutive year, the Keller Public Library has been honored with the Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. The award recognizes the Keller Library for its commitment to service in our community and educational programming. 

Only 28 libraries of 565 in the state of Texas received this honor for 2013; the award is given annually to libraries that demonstrate service excellence in 10 areas: 

• Summer Reading Program 
• Services to Underserved Populations 
• Enhanced Service 
• Marketing Materials 
• Policies and Procedures 
• Programming for Adults and Families 
• Literacy Support 
• Collaborative Efforts 
• Staff Training; and 
• Library Web Presence 

The Keller Public Library broke new service records during the last year fiscal year, assisting 237,088 patrons circulate 561,472 books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs and more. And with hundreds of events and programs annually focused on literacy, computer skills, arts and crafts, and storytelling, it’s no surprise that membership also continues to grow. More than 26,300 Keller residents currently have a Keller Public Library card. 

“We continue to serve more families each year and are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the gift of reading with every patron who visits us,” Library Director Jana Prock said. “Our programming and policies are an extension of that commitment, and it’s wonderful to have our hardworking staff members honored for their work by such a prestigious award.”
