Join the Keller Public Arts Board in welcoming the Kaligrafos Group and the Fort Worth Calligraphers Guild to Keller Town Hall for 'Calligraphy in North Texas' as they share the diversity of calligraphy as an art form. The exhibit will be available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm from April 1st to the 25th. A reception recognizing the calligraphers of Kaligrafos will be held Thursday, April 10th from 7 to 9 pm.

From the Ancient Greek kallos meaning "beauty" and graphe meaning "writing," calligraphy is defined as "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner." Calligraphy has been used over the centuries in religious art, inscriptions, birth and death certificates along with many other formal documents. Today's calligraphy serves both a functional means and design for fine-art.

Kaligrafos is an organization of the Dallas Calligraphy Society which was formed in 1980 and the Fort Worth Calligraphers Guild in 1979 each via a group of students and professionals to serve as an active forum for the study and promotion of calligraphy and its related arts. Members create pieces of fine art, letter poems and quotations, address envelopes, and do all types of lettering from historical to contemporary for advertising and design.
